Chapin claimed two Region 4-3A basketball wins Friday against visiting Lugoff-Elgin.
The Eagles girls (16-4, 4-2) snapped a two-game region losing streak in a 62-31 win over the Demons in the twinbill opener. Layla Neal led a parade of Chapin double-figure scorers with 15 points, followed by Alexa Conners (14), Kelly Coker (11) and Ashlee Wilson (10).
In the nightcap, the Chapin boys won for the first time in the new year, downing the Demons 65-61 in the first game of the region campaign’s second half. The Eagles (8-14, 1-5) received 24 points from Brian Kidd, and 10 each from Michael Weimer and Niles Drasites.
