Cardinal Newman looks to maintain its slim lead in SCISA Region 2-3A boys basketball Tuesday at home against Ben Lippen.

The Cardinals sport a 13-5 overall record, and a 4-1 mark in the region. The visiting Falcons are 11-9, 4-2 and moved into a tie for second place with Heathwood Hall by beating the Highlanders on Friday.

Ben Lippen handed CN its lone region setback, 56-51, on Jan. 13. A 19-12 burst in the fourth quarter was the difference in the first meeting for the Falcons. Mitchell Deter scored 16 points and Zach Burnett added 13 for BL. Jake Hrovat tallied 16 points, and Jake Motto had 15 points and seven rebounds for CN.

Deter carries a 17.0 scoring average into the game, while teammate Andre Hennie is at 13.6 ppg. Motto is averaging 16.3 points and 13.5 rebounds for the Cards, while Hrovat is at 11.8 ppg.
