Spring Valley’s second-ranked girls basketball team can clinch the Region 4-4A championship on Friday with a win against visiting South Pointe.
The Vikings (19-1, 7-0) rang up their 18th win in a row on Tuesday, downing neighboring Ridge View 55-41 on Tuesday. South Pointe, meanwhile, fell two games off the pace on Tuesday thanks to a 36-35 loss to Blythewood.
Asia Dozier, Xylina McDaniel and Briana Robinson paced the Spring Valley performance. Dozier scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three assists. McDaniel put up a double-double (16 points, 11 boards) and also had three assists and two steals. Robinson contributed 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Vikings turned in an outstanding defensive performance, and limited Blazers star Destiny White to just six points.

Ridge View (12-5, 4-3) slipped back to third place in the region standings.
