Blythewood scored a major upset in the first round of the Class 4A state girls basketball playoffs on Tuesday, eliminating Region 3-4A champion Nation Ford with a 43-33 road.
Ashleigh Edwards and LeAndra Colbertson shared scoring honors for the Bengals with 13 points apiece.
Blythewood (14-10) heads off to Laurens on Friday for a second-round game. Laurens, the No. 2 from Region 1-4A, sent Spartanburg packing with a 55-48 win last night as Leah Moore scored 15 points.
On the other hand, Ridge View’s season came to end with a 60-42 loss at Northwestern. The Blazers, who finished 14-7, arrived late because of traffic on I-77 and had just 10 minutes warm-up time. RV never recovered from its understandable sluggish start.
