Keith Harding became the first wrestler in Blythewood history to enjoy a little state tournament success, going 2-2 at 145 pounds at the Class 4A division last weekend at Lexington.
Harding’s groundbreaking performance netted the program its first place-finish effort. Harding ended up in fourth place. He scored the program’s first state win with a 16-0 technical fall against Stratford’s Cody Gathers in first-round action on Friday. After losing to Sumter’s Josh Sullivan in the semifinals, Harding secured a place finish by beating James Bethel of Richland Northeast 3-1 in the consolation semifinals. He then fell in the consolation title bout 3-1 to Fort Dorchester’s Ashley Bracklein.
Meanwhile, Tom Arnett (125) and Joey Starnes (285) both went 0-2.
