Yeske belts 18th career home run

White Knoll opened the 2009 softball season on Tuesday with a 6-2 Region 5-4A win over defending champion North Augusta.

Codee Yeske was in mid-season form, going 2-for-4 with a home runs, two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base. It was the 18th career home run for the star Timberwolves infielder. Shelly Jeffcoat was the winning pitcher, allowing no earned runs. The senior right-hander went the distance, striking out seven while allowing six hits. She walked one NA batter and hit another.

Lydia Trexler and Hannah Holbrook had memorable varsity debuts. Shortstop Trexler delivered two hits and three at bats and scored one run. Holbrook, starting at second base, went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs. Veteran Sara Eisenhower had one hit and the only other Timberwolves RBI.
