Bengals crush Lancaster in 4-4A softball debut

Blythewood pounded Lancaster 13-2 on Thursday in its first-ever Class 4A region softball game.

Senior Megan Marsh was the Bengals’ winning pitcher in the 4-4A inaugural outing, striking out seven while scattering six Bruins hits. Hillary Stewart drove in three runs, while Paige Hatfield, Bailey Newman and Tiffany Harris had two RBIs apiece. Blythewood had nine hits in the romp with Stewart and Hatfield both delivering two safeties.

Blythewood, which fell 11-1 to 4A powerhouse South Florence in its season opener on Wednesday, is off until Tuesday when it travels to take on district rival Spring Valley in a key early 4-4A outing.
