Blazers nip Bearcats on Hill's steal of home

Andrew Hill’s steal of with two outs in the top of the seventh inning was the decisive run in Ridge View’s 3-2 Region 4-4A baseball win at Rock Hill on Tuesday night.

With the score tied at 2-2 entering the final inning, Ridge View was able to push across the winning run without the benefit of a hit. The Blazers drew three walks to load the bases and set up Hill’s dramatic 90-foot dash to victory.

Hill was the RV starting pitcher, tossing five shutout innings with seven strikeouts before running into trouble in the sixth when Rock Hill turned two doubles and a walk into two runs to tie the score. Hill was lifted in favor of Richard Crisostomo, who got out of the inning without further incident and eventually emerged as the winning pitcher. Scott Baldwin came on in the seventh to pick up the save.

Hill was also in the middle of things with the bat, going 2 for 3 with two doubles.

Ridge View stand stands at 5-2 overall, 2-0 in region games. The Blazers host Spring Valley on Friday. The Vikings are also off to a 2-0 start in region play.
