A.C. FLORA - The Falcons entered the Lady Eagle Invitational tournament at Airport riding a two-match winning streak. ACF (3-3) topped 4A Sumter 5-1 last Saturday and thumped Camden 6-0 on Wednesday … Flora opened Region 4-3A play on Tuesday against Chapin … Lauren Wedemyer scored two goals against both Sumter and Camden to take over the team scoring lead with four goals. Logan Holler and Mary Sarah Komar also found the range in both contests. Holler had two goals vs. Sumter … The best win to date? The Falcons nipped Cardinal Newman 2-1 in a shootout in the season opener. Sara McLeod had the regular goal, and ACF emerged with the win thanks to a 6-5 advantage in the PK session.

AIRPORT - The fourth-ranked Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision to third-ranked South Aiken in a key early Region 5-3A match on Tuesday. The setback leaves the defending region champs at 4-21- overall, 2-1 in the region … Prior to that disappointing outcome, the Eagles dumped Dreher and Swansea in conference play by identical 2-0 scores. Moreover, Emily Jeffcoat and Casi Jones scored the goals and keeper Megan Laney posted a shutout in both outings … Airport has just one outing next week – a trip to play archrival Brookland-Cayce on Tuesday at The Cage.

BROOKLAND-CAYCE - The Bearcats had a 2-0 week to inch back over the over the .500 mark (4-3-1). B-C picked up its first Region 5-3A win on Tuesday, downing Dreher 2-1 in a match decided by a penalty-kick shootout. The Bearcats are 1-2 in the region and have a critical set of region matches on tap next week. B-C hosts Airport at The Cage on Tuesday, and travels to face Swansea on Thursday … Freshman Carlyn Fralick tallied the regular-play goal vs. Dreher, and sophomore defender Haley Powell accounted for the decisive PK in the shootout ... Katie Busbee scored two goals in B-C's 4-1 at Sumter on Thursday ... Nellie Phillips leads the Bearcats with four goals, while Busbee, Kimmy Batson and Sarah Johnson all have tallied three goals to date.

CAMDEN - It’s been an up-and-down deal for the 3-2 Bulldogs so far this season – scoring a combined 18 goals in their three wins, and being on the short end of a combined 18-0 count in their two setbacks … Tina Stokes and India Robinson have accounted for the bulk of the Camden scoring. Stokes has nine goals, Robinson eight. Robinson tallied six in a 9-0 Region 6-3A win over Lakewood, while Stokes found the range five times in an 8-0 region rout of Crestwood … The best win to date? That’s easy – a 1-0 triumph over archrival Lugoff-Elgin on a goal by Stokes and a shutout in the nets by keeper Lauren Geddings.
