Chapin opened the Region 4-3A boys soccer campaign with a 6-2 win on Monday night as Joey DeMare scored four goals. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Eagles (2-4, 1-0), who are ranked No. 8 in Class 4A.
DeMare, who led the team in scoring last season with 19 goals and six assists for 46 points, finally got his first tally of the season on a free kick last week in a 2-1 shootout loss to Ridge View.
“Joey had four and could have scored more (vs. L-E),” said Chapin coach Dick Hiller. “It was a good effort on our part, getting our first region win but we were sloppy in the final 15 minutes. We created numerous chances against Ridge View but did not put them away. The Ridge View keeper (Justin Braddock) made five or six outstanding saves.”
Connor Cunningham and Ben Bosco also found the range for the Eagles last night. Cunningham has three goals to date, while Bosco has two.
Grayson Quick and Bryce Proctor had the goals for the Demons, who fell to 1-3, 0-1.
