Lexington returns to courts after long break

Lexington returns to boys tennis action this week after suffering its first loss of the season to undefeated Spring Valley in its last outing before going on spring break.

The Wildcats are scheduled, weather permitting, to play at Richland Northeast in a Region 5-4A match on Tuesday, followed by a non-region outing Wednesday at home against A.C. Flora. Lexington (7-1 overall, 7-0 in region play) will be busy down the home stretch of the regular season with makeup dates against North Augusta and Aiken in addition to the rest of the regular-season dates.

Junior Gordon Lucas, the only returning starter on the roster, and sophomore Parker Adkins were the lone Lexington winners, at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, against the high-flying Vikings. William Lightle and Trey Swearingen both suffered their first setbacks of the season.

Lucas is now the lone undefeated singles play left, 6-0. Otherwise, Ross Sons is 4-2 at No. 2, while Adkins Lightle and Swearingen are all 5-1.

Spring Valley also hung the first doubles loss of the season on the Wildcats, downing Brian Lim and Grayson Hill. The Lim-Hill duo is 3-1. Lim is 5-1 in doubles play.
