White Knoll scored its first-ever boys soccer win over neighboring Lexington on Tuesday night, downing the Wildcats 5-0 in a Region 5-4A match. The historic verdict upped the Timberwolves record to 8-1 overall, 5-1 in region matters.
Jonathan Salinas, Ivan Espinosa, Nestor Jaramillo, Patrick Sykes, Cristian Lord did the scoring for WK, and keepers Skylar Walker and Chris Vining combined for the shutout. White Knoll has not allowed a goal in its last four wins.
Salinas and Sykes have been hot of late after slow starts. Salinas has scored all six of his goals in the past fours matches, while Sykes has tallied all five of his goals in the last four outings. Jaramillo scored his team-leading 14th goal, Espinosa posted his third of the season and Lord put his first on the books. Sykes and Matt Lord were credited with asssists.
White Knoll plays at Aiken on Thursday, and hosts Richland Northeast on Friday.
Lexington, coming off a 3-1 showing at the Palmetto Cup, fell to 10-6 overall, 4-3 in the region. The Wildcats have dropped three of its last four region matches.
