Airport hosts Chapin in 3A Top 10 girls soccer clash

Airport, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, bounced back from a 3-1 Region 5-3A soccer loss to seventh-ranked Swansea on Tuesday, to blank Ben Lippen 4-0 in a non-region outing last night. The Eagles square off against sixth-ranked Chapin tonight at home.

Casi Jones scored two goals against the SCISA Falcons, while Emily Jeffcoat had one goal and two assists, Rebecca Baker scored one goal and Erin Gray was credited with two assists. Briggite Shumpert and Megan Laney shared time in goal for the Eagles, who stand at 9-4-1 overall, 3-2 in region matters.

Chapin tuned up for tonight’s Airport rematch by blasting Lower Richland 12-0 on Thursday to improve to 9-4 overall, 4-0 in Region 4-4A play. Alainah Farrell had a hat trick and Nicole Hallibick and Sarah Baldwin tallied two goals apiece against the overmatched Diamond Hornets. Farrell has scored five goals in Chapin’s last two matches.

Chapin topped Airport 3-0 in the semifinals of the Lady Eagle Classic tournament at Airport last week.
