Airport hosts No. 2 South Aiken on Tuesday

Class 3A sixth-ranked Airport handed fifth-ranked Chapin a 1-0 non-region girls soccer loss on Friday night, and have a key Region 5-3A bout against second-ranked South Aiken on Tuesday night at Eagle Stadium.

Casi Jones tallied the lone goal of the headline match on Friday off an assist by Alli Mims. It was the 20th goal of the season by Jones. Haley McKnight, Rebecca Baker, Heather Button, and Haley Pipkin were solid on defense in front of keepers Brigitte Shumpert and Megan Laney as the Eagles posted their second straight shutout, their fourth of the season.

Airport now stands at 10-4-1 overall, 3-2 and tied for second place with Swansea in the region standings behind front-running South Aiken (13-2, 5-2), which suffered its first conferense setback last week against Brookland-Cayce. The Eagles can pull even in the loss column with a win over the Thoroughbreds. South Aiken downed Airport 2-0 in the first meeting on March 24.
