Defending champion Cardinal Newman, Ben Lippen, Hammond and Wilson Hall are entered in the SCISA state softball tournament that begins today at the Pine Groove Complex in West Columbia.
Action in the double-elimination tournament continues on Saturday with the championship game set for 4 p.m.
Wilson Hall takes on Ben Lippen in a first-round Lower Bracket game at 5:30 p.m. The winner plays Laurence Manning at 7:30 p.m. The loser plays an elimination game at 8:30 p.m.
Hammond, which brought back the sport this season, meets Florence Christian in a first-round Upper Bracket game at 3:30 p.m. The winner faces Cardinal Newman at 7:30 p.m. The loser has an elimination game at 7:30 p.m.
State semifinal games are at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Robert E. Lee enters the tournament with a 32-0 record, including two wins over Cardinal Newman and defending state runner-up Laurence Manning.
