Game notes: The second Hibernian Cup game pitting the state’s two largest Catholic high schools shifts to Columbia on Friday. Bishop England claimed the traveling trophy last season in the Lowcountry with a 21-0 inaugural win over the Cardinals … The series began at the behest of CN coach Mike Bolchoz, who attended Bishop England and spent a number of years as an assistant coach at his alma mater … The Cardinals are off to a 0-2 start and have yet to locate the end zone. CN was blanked by Christ School 6-0 in the season opener, and fell 35-0 at Wilson Hall last week … Bishop England is also looking for its first win, dropping early decisions to Ben Lippen (10-7), North Charleston (26-20) and St. John’s (26-20) … Surprisingly, running back Kyle Mahon has been the best offensive option for the Bishops so far, not veteran quarterback Mikell Forberry. Mahon has run for 316 yards and four touchdowns. Fosberry, who is 18-for-31 passing for 129 yards and no TDs, has been sharing time with sophomore Danny Croghan. The move has allowed the Bishops to employ Fosberry on defense. He leads the team with 33 tackles and had two interceptions.
