Ridge View’s boys cross country team cemented its early-season standing as the No. 1 team in South Carolina on Saturday at the annual Coaches Classic meet.
Brian Rosefield’s Blazers entered the meet ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and No. 2 overall behind Class 3A Hilton Head in the all-classification rakings. Hilton Head moved ahead of Ridge View on the all-class list in the second SCTCCCA poll, but that will change again after Saturday.
The junior-dominated Blazers set the pace in the elite International Division race, winning 136-147 over Fort Mill. Hilton Head, meanwhile, finished a distant 10th in the early season showdown.
Junior Joseph Keitt led the RV pack, finishing 6th with a time of 16:22. He had fine backing from David Jennings (13th, 16:48), Raeven Lantz (20th, 16:59), Mike Lantz (36th, 17:21) and Jay Lynch (63rd, 17:51).
