Preview: Lugoff-Elgin at Camden

Site: Zemp Stadium. Time: 7:30 p.m.

Lugoff-Elgin notes: The Demons breezed by West Florence 31-3 last week to improve to 2-1. The L-E defense has allowed just one field in each of its two wins … E.J. Ruiz scored two touchdowns last week. Stephen Boneparte and quarterback Will Dorton had the other L-E tallies … The Demons use both Dorton and Forrest Koumas at quarterback, and alternate between the Wing T and the spread. Koumas sometimes plays at wing on at running back when not under center … Julian Baxter and Darius Custard are big-play men at the wing/receiver spots.

Camden notes: The Bulldogs (2-1) are coming off a bye week and two straight wins after taking a 56-38 shellacking at the hands of Hartsville in its Week 0 opener ... Quarterback Josh Council and running back SaVonn Wingate are the key men offensively for Camden. Council, who missed last season’s bout with L-E with an injury, is 33-for-60 passing for 614 yards and eight touchdowns, and has run for 217 yards and three scores. Wingate has 273 yards rushing and one TD of 46 carries, and has four catches for 66 yards. The big-play receivers are Glenn Quattlebaum (10-220-5) and Alvonta Jenkins (9-151-1) … Sterling Green is tops in tackles with 22. Sjahbar Stewart has been a playmaker on defense with five tackles for loss and one sack.

Series history: Camden prevailed in the Wateree River Showdown 24 times in the first 26 clashes of the neighboring foe, but the Demons have won three in a row, including last season’s 21-7 triumph.
