Eight Midlands teams in S.C. football rankings

Eight football teams from around the Midlands are in their respective top tens of this week's Prep Writers Poll, with Irmo, Lugoff-Elgin and Columbia jumping back into the rankings.

Irmo (3-1) defeated Spring Valley and is ranked seventh in Class 4A. Also ranked are (3A) Airport, Chapin, Lugoff-Elgin and Crestwood; (2A) Batesburg-Leesville and Columbia; and (1A) Calhoun County.
