Wildcats run according to form

Lexington’s cross country teams had yet another strong showing at its most recent major meet outing on Sept. 26 at The Citadel Invitational in Charleston at James Island County Park.

The Wildcats boys, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A and on the all-classification list, was the Alpha Division champion, nipping Stratford, 43-47. The Knights from Goose Creek entered the meet ranked fourth in 4A and overall.

The Lexington girls, meanwhile, performed just at the polls predicted. The Wildcats, No. 6 in Class 4A, finished in fourth place behind No. 2 Stratford, No. 1 Wando and No. 3 Summerville.

Sophomore Colby Coulter set the pace for the boys team, placing fourth individually with a wime of 16:58.04. Seniors Will Belue (6th, 17:12.75) and Drew Harris (11th, 17:22.65, junior Jay Lloyd (12th, 17:26.40) and eighth-grader Tony Morales (13th, 17:29.0) closed out the scoring lineup. Freshman Erik Wendt (14th. 17:38.56) and sophomore Alex Haulbrook (23rd, 18:05. 29) both ran very well even though they did not contribute to the team points total.

Seventh-grader Haylee Love was the top Lexington girl, finishing fifth in 20:16.34. Freshman Meri heneage (20th, 21:08.97), seventh-grader Katelin Killman (22nd, 21:14.53), freshman Valeria Feliciano (23rd, 21:17.17) and junior Beka Rush (25th, 21:27.85) were Lexington other scoring runners.
