Irmo notes: The Yellow Jackets breezed by Aiken last week 41-10 to improve to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in Region 5-4A … Irmo’s Big Three had big numbers. Mustafa Greene was his usual productive self – running for 193 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. Quarterback David Olson completed nine of his 15 passes for 209 yards and three scores. Receiver Davis Frazier had six grabs for 131 yards and one TD … Greene went over the 1,000 yard mark last week. The fleet senior running back has 1,169 yards and 17 touchdowns on the books, and is averaging 8.3 yards per carry. Olson is 51-for-97 passing for 736 yards and 11 TDs, and has yet to throw an interception. He is also averaging 38.5 yards on 17 punts. Frazier has 24 catches for 371 yards and five scores … The Jackets swarming defense features Jordan Kirven (81 tackles, 4 TFL), Nolan Dorton (48 tackles, 5 sacks), Anthony Long (47 tackles), Antonio Stewart (45 tackles), Markeem Blount (32 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks) and Isaac Scott (41 tackles, 5 TFL, 5 sacks).

North Augusta notes: NA is off to its best start in nine year, winning all six outings to date. The Yellow Jackets had an eight-game winning streak out of the starting gate in 2001 before running into Irmo in Week 9 … The NA defense has not allowed more than two touchdowns in any game so far. The unit leaders are Montel Hughes (64 tackles), Emeka Okafor (48 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks) and Jaylon Myers (4 interceptions) … Quarterback Loranzo Hammonds is the key man on the offensive side. Hammonds has 439 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 71 carries, and is 64-for-91 passing for 991 yards and 12 TDs. Hammonds has thrown just one interception to date. Demarcus Rouse (79-485-4) is the leading rusher, and Matt Hazel (37-669-9) is Hammonds’ favorite receiving target.

Series history: Irmo has pretty much owned those “other” Yellow Jackets through the years. In fact, North Augusta has managed just five wins in 29 series outings to date. Irmo avenged a 23-21 loss to NA in 2007 with a 21-0 triumph last season.
