Airport notes: The Eagles continued rolling last week, breezing by Swansea 63-20 to remain undefeated at 7-0. Airport has put 101 points on the board in two Region 5-3A outings … Quarterback WT Murden got some much need rest a week ago with his team getting out to a big early lead. The senior leader had just three running attempts and was 9-for-12 passing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. To date, Murden has 630 yards rushing and nine TDs on 95 carries, and is 86-for-134 in the passing game for 1,176 yards and 15 TDs with just one interception … Chris Phillips (12 tackles), Charlie Crane (11) and Shawn Felder (10) led the Airport hit parade against Swansea.
South Aiken notes: The Thoroughbreds have turned things around in Region 5-3A play, beating Dreher (21-7) and Brookland-Cayce (44-20) after going 1-4 in non-region outings … Chris Johnson has been on a roll in region play. The hard-running back rumbled for 140 yards and three touchdowns vs. Dreher and was even better against B-C when he erupted for 168 yards and five TDs on just 14 carries. Johnson had three scoring runs in the third quarter to turn the B-C game into a rout after the Bearcats closed the gap to 17-14 at the end of the first half. Included in the Johnson scoring binge were TD runs covering 21, 30 and 73 runs … South Aiken has amassed 612 yards rushing in the two region outings.
Series history: Airport rolled to a 35-7 win last year in the first meeting of the team in five years. The Eagles have a 9-4 lead in the series.
