S.C. roundup: Lattimore leads Byrnes past Dorman

At Duncan, Byrnes running back Marcus Lattimore expected to make a few big runs Friday against Dorman. But none turned out to be bigger than his final carry.

Lattimore took a direct snap and converted a fourth-and-1 with 1:55 remaining in the game to seal a victory against the Cavaliers at Nixon Field in a game between the state's top two Class 4A teams.

Top-ranked Byrnes took possession with 4:42 remaining after No. 2 Dorman turned the ball over on downs and ran out the clock with Lattimore getting the ball on every play. Lattimore finished with 158 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries.

Byrnes avenged last season's 35-28 regular-season loss at Dorman and has not lost a home game since a 19-14 decision to Conway in the 2001 playoffs. The Cavaliers' 20-game regular-season win streak was snapped.
