Fantastic Five: Tonight's top Midlands games

Chapin (7-2, 2-2) vs. Fairfield Central (6-3, 3-1)

WHERE: E.K. McLendon Stadium, Winnsboro

WHEN: 8 tonight

THE SKINNY: After rising to No. 5 in the Class 3A poll, Chapin has dropped two consecutive games to see its Region 4-3A title hopes smashed. Now the Eagles seek a win to get a home playoff game. Fairfield Central, despite its loss to Lugoff-Elgin last week, can claim the region championship with a win.

THE PICK: Fairfield Central

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler (7-2, 5-1) vs. C.A. Johnson (7-2, 5-1)

WHERE: Bolden Stadium, Columbia

WHEN: 7:30 tonight

THE SKINNY: The surprising Green Hornets, in the midst of their first winning season since 1986, end the regular season on their home field with a chance to earn another home game in next week's Class A playoffs. C.A. Johnson posted one of the biggest wins in school history with a 8-7 decision against Blackville-Hilda last week. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, averaging 41.7 points a game, will be another tough challenge.

THE PICK: C.A. Johnson

Camden (7-2, 4-0) at Marlboro County (9-0. 4-0)

WHERE: Marlboro County High, Bennettsville

WHEN: 7:30 tonight

THE SKINNY: Top-ranked Marlboro County looks to secure the Region 6-3A championship. But it needs a victory against red-hot Camden, ranked No. 9 in Class 3A, to seal the deal. Marlboro County beat Camden twice last season, including a playoff game at Bennettsville.

THE PICK: Marlboro County

Blythewood (7-2, 2-1) at Rock Hill (9-0, 3-0)

WHERE: District Three Stadium, Rock Hill

WHEN: 7:30 tonight

THE SKINNY: The Bengals play their second consecutive game against Region 4-4A's York County contingent. The first attempt didn't go well: South Pointe beat Blythewood 43-24. Rock Hill, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, will be a bigger challenge because the Bearcats allow 11.7 points per game.

THE PICK: Rock Hill

Cardinal Newman (1-7, 0-3) vs. Heathwood Hall (9-0, 3-0)

WHERE: Highlanders Stadium, Columbia

WHEN: 7:30 tonight

THE SKINNY: The Highlanders, ranked No. 1 in SCISA Class 3A for the first time this season, look to complete a perfect regular season. Last week's 10-7 victory against Hammond wrapped up the Region 1-3A championship for Heathwood Hall, its first title since 2005. The Cardinals, completing a difficult season, have to hope the Highlanders are off their game after such an emotional win.

THE PICK: Heathwood Hall
