Irmo had its best overall showing at the Class 4A state cross country championships in 10 years this season. The Yellow Jackets boys and girls teams both cracked the Top 10 in the team standings for the first time since 1999.
The Irmo boys team finished in seventh place with 206 points, marking its return to the Top 10 for the first time since 2002. The Jackets girls finished eight with 219 points.
Sophomore Andrew Jordan set the pace got the Yellow Jackets boys, finishing 18th with a time of 16:43.43. Senior Jack lewis (26th), juniors Ashton Bracey (60th) and Tanner Graham (64th) and sophomore Evan Graczyk (65th) also contributed to the team scoring.
Sophomore Savannah Radenbaugh was the standout on the girls side, earning all-state honors by placing 15th in 19:45.05. Radenbaugh’s support came from freshmen Mary Grace Hutchinson (47th), Janay Chisholm (55th) and Anna Buford (56th) and junior Aisha Maddox (63rd).
