White Knoll took on a new wrestling personality last season under new coach Kevin Emily. The Timberwolves finished an 18-7 overall record and advanced to the third round of the Class 4A state playoffs for the first time before running into cross-town Lexington.
Emily has a nice solid base in place this season, featuring sophomore Chris Jeffries (112), sophomore Austin Lee (119), sophomore Kevin Epting (119/125), junior Cody Shirley (119/125), junior Josh Phillips (130), junior Zach Dicus (145), senior Chad Lee (152), senior Patrick Speers (160), junior Phillip Austin (171) and junior Chris Sayers (285).
Promising newcomers include sophomore Jamal Lackey (135), sophomore Jake Beckett (140) and sophomore Asa Gossett (215).
“This year's team appears to be pretty solid and should pick up where we left off last year,” said Emily.
“Although we lost some starters that scored big points for us, we have a few guys that will step up and fill in and make it a smooth transition.”
