Dutch Fork is looking forward to yet another successful wrestling campaign this winter. The Silver Foxes return a solid veteran base from a team that won two tournaments last season and claimed the Region 5-4A championship.
DF’s projected starting lineup includes Levi Leslie (103), Sam Grosse (112), Mark Stanton (119), A.J. Finley (125), Colin Studemeyer (130), Tanner Wannish (135), John Brannigan (140), J.B. Studemeyer (145), Austin Koon (152), Zack Brogovi (160), C.J. Gregory (189) and Marshall Williams (215).
The headliners at the outset are Finley, Brannigan and Williams. Finley went 30-21 at as freshman at 112 last season, and was a state qualifier. Brannigan rolled up a 44-10 record and placed fourth at 125 at the state tournament. Williams selflessly moved up to heavyweight a year ago to leave his regular 215 spot in the lineup open for T.J. Cayruth. It didn’t seem to matter. Williams went 52-2 and claimed the state title.
Stanton and Groose shared time at 119 a year ago. Stanton had a 20-6 record, while Groose went 10-8. Wannish was 20-13 at 130, Koon was 16-9 at 140, J.B. Studemeyer 21-7 at 145 and Bregovi posted a 16-11 mark at 145.
