Chapin completed a season sweep of neighboring Mid-Carolina on Friday night, downing the visiting Rebels 50-38. The Eagles topped M-C, 60-51, in Prosperity on Dec. 4.
Tenacious defense and clutch shooting at the free-throw line was the difference for Chapin. The Eagles defense forced 24 turnovers and hounded the Rebels into a frustrating shooting performance. M-C converted just 15 of 49 shots from the field (31%). Chapin put the verdict on ice by hitting 12 of 18 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter,
Connor Lowder and Brian Kidd paced the balanced Eagles attack with 13 and 12 points, respectively. A.J. Lang, who had 19 points to lead the way in the first outing vs. M-C, had just two points this time around.
C.J. Edwards had 12 points and four steals to lead the Rebels, who fell to 2-2. Calvin Herbert finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
Chapin also won the girls game as Ambria Kibler out-scored the Rebels by herself. Kibler tallied 23 points in the Eagles 44-22 victory.
