T-Wolves edge Demons for 2nd at Outback tournament

White Knoll edged Lugoff-Elgin for second place behind Point Pleasant (WV) High at the Outback Wrestling Classic tournament at North Myrtle Beach last weekend.

The Timberwolves, ranked No. 11 in Class 4A by scmat.com, finished with 179 team points at the high profile event, while the 3A fourth-ranked Demons checked out with 168 points.

White Knoll had six entries place, including Asa Gosset, who went 5-0 en route to the 215-pound championship. Gossett beat L-E’s Theo Shephard in the title bout. Jamal Lackey (4-1 at 135), Zach Dicus (4-1 at 145) and Patrick Speers (4-1 at 160) all managed second-place finishes. Austin and Chad Lee were fourth-place finishers. Austin Lee went 5-2 at 119, while Chad was 4-2 at 152.

Max Fowler was L-E’s lone champion, going 5-0 at 189 pounds. Shepard (4-1) and Tony Murphy (4-1 at 125) were the Demons runner-ups. Alonzo Grant had a 5-1, consolation championship showing at 145.
