Finley, Stodemeyer strike gold at tourney

A.J. Finley and Colin Studemeyer emerged as weight class champions at Dutch Fork’s Silver Foxes Invitational wrestling tournament last weekend.

Finley, who placed fourth at the Palmetto State Classic in the first major tournament of the season, went 4-0 on the way to the 125-pound title. Stoudemeyer prevailed at 130 with a 4-0 record.

Levi Leslie (103) and Sam Grosse (112) were the other Silver Foxes finalists, posting 3-1 records while earning silver medals. Groose was a third-;place finisher at the Palmetto State Classic.

DF’s consolation champs were Tanner Wannish (145) and Kyle Fidler (152). Both closed with 4-1 tournament marks. Cameron Heller was the other place finisher at 215, taking fourth place with a 3-2 record.

The Class 4A seventh-ranked Silver Foxes finished third behind 13th-ranked Beaufort and 14th-ranked Sumter in the final team standings. Dutch Fork, however, did not have a full lineup in place at its own tournament.
