Lower Richland erupted in the second half on the way to a 63-45 win over Irmo on Tuesday in the final game for both teams at the Chick-fil-A Classic.
The Diamond Hornets trailed 26-25 at halftime, and broke open the close contest with a 21-6 run over the final 6:03. The move began with a jumped by Malcolm Rhett, who scored 12 of his game high 21 points during the decisive surge. Rhett also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Marcus Taylor contributed 10 points and Keith Johnson chipped in eight points and seven rebounds as LR improved to 5-5.
Josh Clinkscales (11), David Frazier (10) and Stephen Rogers (10) led Irmo, which fell to 5-4.
Lower Richland finished the tournament with a 1-2 record, while Irmo went 0-3.
