Spring Valley’s improving wrestling team concluded a fine December performance by winning the team championship at the inaugural Blazer Invitational tournament hosted by Ridge View.
Ariel Roblero (112) and Nate Weaver (215) emerged as the Vikings individual winners at the tournament, which was crested to fill the void left by the demise of the Taco Bell Invitional. Kyle Stiffler (103), Pedro Martinez (130) and Antonio Williams (140) all reached the championship finals, but had to settle for silver medals.
Gilbert had three champions and finish third in the team standings. Drew Neff (160), David Amick (125) and Matt Risinger (135) with the Indians’ champs. Neff was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Sergi Friar (119) and Joey Starnes (285) had successful title runs while leading Blythewood to a fifth-place finish, and Tyler Detlaff (160) was a second-place finisher.
Patrick Williams and K.C. Braddock headlined the effort by host Ridge View. Williams was the 145 champion, while Braddock was the runner-up at 119.
