Snow wipes out Saturday's state wrestling finals

With a rare snow storm blanketing South Carolina on Friday night, the South Carolina High School League has called off its four state championship wrestling matches scheduled for Saturday at Ridge View.

Lugoff-Elgin, the lone surviving Midlands team, will square off against Hilton Head for the Class 3A state title on Feb. 17 at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. The match begins at 6:30 p.m.

Lexington will host the 4A title bout between Rock Hill and Fort Dorchester on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

According to the SCHSL web site, Bamberg-Ehrhardt will travel to face Chesterfield for the 1A championship on Saturday at 2 p.m.

There was no information on when and where the 2A finale between Loris and Woodruff will take place as of 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
