Mustafa Greene
Mustafa Greene

Player of the year: Mustafa Greene

School: Irmo

Year: Senior

Position: Running back

What he did: Shrine Bowl selection rushed for 1,367 yards and 18 touchdowns. He accepted a scholarship offer from N.C. State.

Who taught you to play football? I think it was just my mom getting me a football, and then my brother and sister would throw the ball to me a lot.

What players did you admire growing up? When I was younger, I thought Marshall Faulk was the best back in the league; I liked the Rams then, so I watched him a lot. Now it's (the Vikings') Adrian Peterson.

If you weren't a running back, what would position would you play? If I wanted to play defense, I'd play safety all day.

Describe yourself in three words: I'd say hard-working, very laid-back, and I try to stay as humble as I can, even though I do like the attention, because that's what my mama taught me.

What do you remember about your first touchdown? It was kind of embarrassing because I was running with my pants down, but after that was over it was great. My teammates started to believe in me, and my coaches did, too. I wanted to make a name for myself early, and I did because it was my first game and everything. It was just a standout moment for me.

What was the highlight of your high school career? When I got national player of the week, and everybody all over the country got to see that I was good.

What do you do in your free time? I play NCAA (a video game) with my boys, and we get very competitive with it.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Either still in the league (NFL) or in a resort somewhere, laid-back, with my mom and everybody taken care of.
