Heathwood Hall and West Summers paced the Midlands show in the boys division at the Skyhawk Invitational cross country meet on Sept. 1.
Summers took third place with a time of 18 minutes, and the Highlanders finished third as a team with 112 points. Summer received solid backing from teammates Stephen Ridley (12th, 19:09), Preston Frankston (14th, 19:16), Sam Feldman (39th, 21:37) and Cooper Black (48th, 22:02).
Cardinal Newman turned in a strong performance, as well. The Cardinals placed fourth, 25 points behind Heathwood Hall. Koty Millard was the CN leader with a solid, sixth-place finish and a time of 18:19. Griffin Darby (25th, 20:19), Mathew Hayes (34th, 21:03), Michael Hodaly (21:12) and Evan Mikula (42nd, 21:44) round out the Cardinals scoring lineup.
Gilbert, Camden, Hammond and Ben Lippen were the other area team in the field.

Gerardo Castro (19th, 19:46) was Gilbert’s leader. The Indians finished eighth in the field of 14 teams.
Camden finished ninth with Henry DeLoach (17th, 19:35) and Davis Goodrich (18th, 19:35) leading the way.
Will Besley (23rd, 20:12) was the Hammond leader, and Steven Barrow (44th, 21:46) set the pace for Ben Lippen.
