Chapin, battling the rain and a tough competitive field, finished in a tie for fifth place on Monday at a 14-invitational golf tournament hosts by Easley High.
The Eagles posted a team score of 334 strokes, which was good for a share of fifth place with Class 4A Wando. Chapin finished just one stroke behind Hilton Head and five off the pace of A.C. Flora among the Class 3A entries.
Junior Mary Chandler Bryan was the Chapin lead with a round of 76, followed by Libby Crawford (85), Melissa Meetze (86) and Nani Lodge (87).
The Eagles next major outing will be at the Smith Memorial tournament on Monday at their home course - Timberlake Country Club. The event, hosted by Brookland-Cayce, also functions a fundraiser for the “Rally for the Cure” cause.
