There has been a bit of confusion about the format in place in SCISA 3A football this fall. The organization has adopted a one-league system this season with all 10 of the 3A members playing a full nine-game league schedule.
Playoff seeding will be based on the final standings.
By the end of Week 9 games this Friday, the playoff field should be set. Heathwood Hall and Cardinal Newman both stand at 0-7 in league matters, and must two out to have a shot at making the cut. It’s more likely that both the Highlanders and Cardinals will be eliminated.
Heathwood Hall (1-7, 0-7) hosts archrival Hammond (8-0, 7-0) on Friday. The four-time defending champion Skyhawks essentially lock up the league title and the No. 1 playoff seed with an easy 54-27 win over previously undefeated porter-Gaud last week. A win by Hammond this week makes the top seed position official.

Cardinal Newman (0-8, 0-7) travels to face Ben Lippen. The host Falcons (5-3, 4-3) can nail down a home playoff game in the first round of the playoff with a win.
Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, Wilson Hall (6-3, 5-2) is in third place, while Augusta Christian and Laurence Manning share fourth place with Ben Lippen. The Falcons, however, have the edge on both teams thanks to head-to-head wins over the Lions and Swampcats.
