The rain that drenched the Midlands on Monday washed out the first round of the Class 4A state girls golf tournament at Lexington Country. Officials said the tournament is now down to a one-day, 18-hole format.
Play was suspended at around 11 a.m. and the players were sent home at 2 p.m.
Five-time defending state champion Lexington and Blythewood are the Midlands teams in the field, while Spring Valley’s Taylor Kelley and Dutch Fork’s Nicole Chin are entered as individual qualifiers.
