Chapin – The Eagles (5-5) finished strong with three straight wins, including last week’s 24-17 conquest of Greer that allowed Chapin to share second place with Clinton in the final Region 3 tabulations. The defending state champion Red Devils, however, earned the No. 2 seed and a home date in the first round of the state playoffs thanks to a 24-17 win over the Eagles in the region opener five weeks ago Chapin heads to Pickens County to face a revitalized Seneca team that went 7-3 under new coach Wayne Green.
Fairfield Central – The Griffins lone stumble came against No. 1 South Pointe, Last week, FC nailed down second place in Region 4 behind the vaunted Stallions with a 26-25 overtime win over Chester in the regular season finale The Griffins will be opening at home for the eighth time in the last nine seasons Berea (7-3) is assured of finishing the season in the black for the first time since 2001.
Airport – The Eagles (8-2) shared first place in Region 5 with A.C. Flora and Midland Valley, and goes into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed. It’s the fourth straight year Airport has rated a first-round game at home. The idea now is for the Eagles to get past the second round for the first time since 1999 Socastee (4-6) closed the regular season below the .500 for the first time since 2006.
A.C. Flora – The Falcons enjoyed their finest season in almost 20 years, but the final 9-1 grade was still not good enough to earn a playoff opener at home for the first time since 2002 ... Flora (9-1) ended up sharing the Region 5 championship with Airport and Midland Valley, but was the odd team out in the tie-breaking format The Falcons hit the road for Florence and a date with Wilson, which finished in second place in its first season in Region 7. The Tigers last postseason game was a 14-12 win over Chester in the 2007 Class 3A state championship game.

Brookland-Cayce – The Bearcats made their only two wins count. All of Camden is hoping for a repeat performance A loss to ancient rival Hartsville in the first week of the Region 6 season cost the Bulldogs a conference and a No. 1 playoff seed Under coach Jimmy Neal, Camden is 8-2 in the first round of the state playoffs The first round opposition will not be easy. The storied Berkeley Stags from Moncks Corner will be in town for their first Class 3A game since the creating of Class 4A in 1968 Berkeley is coming off a 14-7 upset loss to upstart county rival Cane Bay last week. How costly was the setback? Berkeley went from being the outright Region 7 champion to a No. 3 seed.
