With a solid core of returning wrestlers in tow, Lexington anticipates another outstanding season in 2010-11.
The Wildcats certainly should approach and perhaps even surpass the accomplishments of a year ago when they went 25-9, won the Region 5-4A championship and advanced to the third round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
“Our depth and experience of the team could help us make a deep run in the playoffs,” said coach Derek Strobel, who is 192-80 in 11 seasons at Lexington.
The cast of seasoned hands includes sophomores Russell Taylor, Geoffrey Eisner, Steven Steinbacher, Walker Barfield, Dacus Fenchel, Matthew Steinbacher and Nate Meagher, juniors Scott Tyndale, Sean Sinnott and Cody Bonham, seniors Alex Morales , Josh Heape, Caleb Brack, Grayson Vazquez and Zach Heape.

Morales, Steinbacher, Tyndale and Taylor are the obvious standouts.
Morales is a two-time state place and the lone returning state champion in the fold. He prevailed at 160 pounds last season after finishing fourth at the same weight in 2009. Steinbacher and Tyndale are both two-time state qualifiers with one state place finish. Steinbacher finished third at 103 in 2009, but did not place at 112 last year. Tyndale was fourth at 125 a year ago after failing to place at 119 as a freshman. Taylor make the cut at 103 last season.
Strobel said junior Joe DiGenova and freshmen Jackson Myers, Daniel Bannister and Dylan Darden are newcomers to watch.
