Lugoff-Elgin finally broke the ice in Class 4A, defeating Blythewood 61-59 on Tuesday for its first Region 4-4A boys basketball win.
Jo Jo Pellegrino and Darius Custard led the Demons to their historic victory, scoring 16 points apiece. Zach Salmond also joined in the fun with 13 points and Stephan Hunter contributed eight points to the cause. L-E is now 4-15 overall, 1-9 in the region.
Spring Valley solidified its third place standing with a 60-57 win over slumping Dutch Fork. Jonathon Garrett fired in 23 points for the Vikings (11-9, 6-3), and Dominique Taylor scored 15. Erick Bethel (19 points) and Ike Harris (14) led Dutch Fork (6-16, 3-7). The Silver Foxes have lost seven of their last eight games.

Blythewood and Irmo came away with wins in the girls games.
Lashonda Canty scored 12 points for Blythewood in a 51-35 win over Lugoff-Elgin. Dahiana Rodriguez and Aneka Dixon tallied 12 points apiece for the Demons.
Keasia Jackson (14) and Zhana Gooden (12) were the big guns in Irmo’s 52-35 win at Richland Northeast. The Cavliers’ Sherees Rose took game scoring honors with 16 poingts.
