Lexington defeated A.C. Flora 3-1 on Sunday in Georgetown to secure the championship at the 2nd Annual International Paper Classic.
A.J. Hart and Elliott Lance combined for a six-hitter and Cody Smith delivered what proved to be the game-winning hit with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. Hart went 5.1 innings to pick up the mound decision and Lance earned a save by retiring all four ACF batters he faced, Lance came in to induced an inning-ending double play in the sixth and had a 1-2-3 seventh.
The Wildcats (5-0) scored an insurance run in the fourth. Austin Bello drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on an infield ground out off the bat of Collie Bowers.
States Clawson had two hits for the Falcons (3-1), and scored the team’s only run in the third. Clawson opened the frame with a single off Hart, moved to second on a bunt by Madison Stokes and came home of Matt Wallace’s RBI single.

Jack Hudgens was the starting and losing pitcher for Flora.
Smith, Bello and Collin Steagall were Lexington’s three picks on the all-tournament team. David Houser, Jake Lewis and Everett Eynon made the the Flora players on the all-tournament team.
Lexington returns to Region 5-4A play on Tuesday at home against Aiken. ACF (3-1) opens its Region 5-3A campaign on Tuesday at home against Chapin.
