The Clash of the Carolinas, sponsored by South Carolina United FC, will be held Saturday at Daniel Island’s Blackbaud Stadium. Kickoff is 1 p.m. for the girls’ game and 3 p.m. for the boys match. Tickets are $10.
The all-star matches are hosted by the High School Soccer Coaches Associations of North Carolina and South Carolina, respectively.
The “Clash” is the only interstate all-star soccer contest of its kind in the nation and features the top graduated prep soccer players from North Carolina and South Carolina. In the girls’ series, the Tar Heels own a 5-1 advantage and captured a 2-1 victory in 2012. In the boys’ series, North Carolina holds a 2-1-3 lead and blanked the Sandlappers 1-0 last summer.
Midlands players on the S.C. girls team are: Kayla Grady, Lexington, defender; Lauren Killian, Blythewood, goalkeeper; and Erin Morabito, Dutch Fork, midfielder. On the S.C. boys team are: Herbert Cojulun, Brookland-Cayce, forward; Bobby Dukes, Irmo, defender; and Graham Jermstad, Dutch Fork, midfielder.
