AC Flora, Spring Valley soccer win region titles plus Friday’s high school scoreboard

The AC Flora boys soccer team won the Region 4-4A championship on Friday in penalty kicks over rival Dreher.

AC Flora topped the Blue Devils, 5-3 in PKs to sweep the season series and earn the No. 1 seed for the playoffs that begin next week.

The match was tied at 1 going into two five-minute overtime periods. Dreher took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Victor den Ouden. But reigning SC Gatorade Player of the Year Jackson Price tied it late in the second five-minute period to send it to penalty kicks.

AC Flora boys’ championship comes a day after the girls won the Region 4-4A title over Dreher, 5-1, on Thursday. Delaney Minor scored twice and three other Flora players had goals

Other highlights from Friday

▪ Spring Valley boys soccer clinched the Region 4-5A title with a 6-0 win over Ridge View. Six different Vikings players had goals.
