SCHSL volleyball, tennis finals set. Three Midlands teams go for championships
Matchups for SC High School League’s volleyball and girls tennis championships are set and three Midlands teams will be going for state titles this weekend.
River Bluff volleyball, and Gray Collegiate and AC Flora girls tennis all will be in the finals this weekend.
River Bluff defeated Wando, 3-1, to advance to the Class 5A Division I volleyball championship. River Bluff, which dropped the first set, had lost to Wando twice in the regular season.
It is the Gators’ second title appearance with the other coming in 2021 against Dorman, their opponent on Saturday. The Cavs are going for their 17th state championship and third straight.
It will be an all local 4A girls tennis championship with AC Flora and Gray Collegiate meeting.
AC Flora defeated Daniel, 5-2, to win the Class 4A Upper State championship. It’s the Falcons’ second straight championship appearance and program’s eighth overall. AC Flora’s lone title came in 2018.
Gray Collegiate will be making its first championship appearance and moved into the final with a 4-1 win over Hilton Head Island to win the Class 4A Lower State championship.
The SCHSL volleyball championships will be Nov. 6 and 8 at Dreher High School while the tennis championships will be Nov. 8 at the Cayce Tennis Center.

Class 3A: Oceanside Collegiate vs. Powdersville, 4:30 p.m.
Class 4A: Pickens vs. Bishop England, 7 p.m.
