A matchup between two of South Carolina’s top prospects, and one featuring two of the Midlands’ top basketball programs highlight the opening day of the Chick-fil-A Classic at Richland Northeast.

Powerhouse programs Keenan and A.C. Flora will get things started on the first day of the tournament Dec. 20, and the night will be capped by Gray Collegiate facing Spartanburg Day.

Gray Collegiate features North Carolina signee Jalek Felton, the top prospect in South Carolina for Class of 2017, and Juwan Gary, a top-20 prospect for Class of 2019. Spartanburg Day counters with Zion Williamson, one of the top prospects in the country for the Class of 2018. Williamson, who scored 42 points in Spartanburg Day’s opener last week, has been offered by Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Clemson and South Carolina among his more than 20 offers.

Gray Collegiate and Spartanburg Day are part of the eight-team National Division, and the winners of the two games will meet in the semifinals Dec. 22. The rest of the National Division begins play Dec. 22 and other teams in bracket are Greensboro Day (N.C.), Hamilton Heights (Tenn.), Oldsmar Christian (Fla.) and La Lumiere (Ind.). La Lumiere has three of the top 100 seniors in the country, including Jaren Jackson, Brian Bowen and Michigan commit Jordan Poole.

Teams in American Division bracket are Blythewood, Porter-Gaud, Cannon School (N.C.), Lafayette Christian (La.), John Carroll School (Md.), Westlake (Ga.) and Wheeler (Ga.). Wheeler boasts a roster which includes Jordan Tucker, Louisville commit Darius Perry and Southern Cal commit Jordan Usher.

Championships of both divisions are set for Dec. 23. For the first time in the tournament’s history, a slam and 3-point dunk contest will take place and is set for Dec. 21 at 9 p.m.

Reserved seating for the tournament is sold out. General admission tickets can before the start of games each day and won’t be sold in advance.
