Elton John’s farewell tour coming to Columbia

The Rocket Man is coming to Columbia.

Elton John has released dates for his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour and will be at Colonial Life Arena on March 13, 2019. Tickets will go on sale to the public through Ticketmaster and Lexington Medical Center Box Office inside Colonial Life Arena at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 (American Express cardholders can get tickets presale beginning 10 a.m. Feb. 8 to 10 p.m. Feb. 12; Ticketmaster Verified Fan presale dates are 10 a.m. Feb. 13 to 10 p.m. Feb. 14).

The piano player’s career includes 38 gold records, 31 platinum and multiplatinum albums, more than 50 Top 40 hits and sales of more than 300 million records worldwide. He has won five Grammys, a Tony and an Oscar for his music, and has delivered more than 4,000 performances in 80 countries since launching his first tour in 1970.

The three-year farewell global tour starts in the U.S. on Sept. 8 before John travels to Europe in April 2019, Asia in November 2019, Austraila in December 2019 and into 2020, South America in March 2020, before returning to Europe and the UK in late 2020 and finishing a second leg in North America in 2021.
