Free concert series to be held at raceway

The Historic Columbia Speedway will be the setting for a free concert series Fridays in October, officials announced Wednesday.

The events will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the speedway, 2001 Charleston Highway in Cayce. Opening the series Oct. 2 will be The Root Doctors.

The series is part of a longer-range plan to revitalize the raceway.
