A Roses discount store is moving into the former Piggly Wiggly location on West Beltline Boulevard.
NAI Avant announced that landlord Kimijo Properties leased the 35,625-square-foot space at 4033 West Beltline Blvd. to Variety Wholesalers.
Piggly Wiggly closed its store in July 2016 after operating there for 20 years. Roses plans to move into the space before the end of the year and will occupy the entire building, according to a news release.
The former Piggly Wiggly included a large sit-down restaurant and employed about 70 workers.
Piggly Wiggly, founded in 1916 in Memphis, Tenn., has two remaining Columbia stores — on North Main Street and Devine Street.
The Roses store on West Beltline will be the second in the Columbia area. The other is at 817 St. Andrews Road.
