A fast-growing pickleball franchise is planning a new indoor facility in Columbia.

The Picklr, which is headquartered in Utah and has locations in states across the country, will open a 46,000-square-foot indoor pickleball business at 10204-A Two Notch Road, the company said in a Wednesday release. That is the former location of a Dick’s Sporting Goods store, which closed in 2023.

The Two Notch Road pickleball spot will, according to the release, “include 12 indoor courts, varying from multiple championship-size courts and skinny warm-up courts, all covered with The Picklr’s pro-quality surfacing, high-grip Shark Lines, permanent C&D nets, sound reduction baffle matrix systems, and low-glare lighting.”

An opening date for The Picklr on Two Notch has not been announced, but the company said it likely will debut this winter. The facility will also have a pro shop and a private event space.

“Bringing The Picklr to Columbia means that the pickleball community will now have access to the most elevated and unparalleled indoor pickleball experience in the country,” Jay Sartori, co-founder of Picklr franchisee WAYMOR Sports, said in the release. “The Picklr’s state-of-the-art clubs, inclusive one-price memberships, optimal play environment, and diverse programs for all ages and skill levels make The Picklr your best club choice.”

The Picklr will be coming to a busy commercial area in Columbia. Nearby businesses include a Target, a Chick-fil-A, a Best Buy, a Kroger grocery store and more. About 32,000 cars per day travel down that stretch of Two Notch, per state statistics.
